Peep caught a fish!
Earlier this summer we were up in Washington to celebrate my brother, a.k.a. Uncle Nony, coming home from Iraq and Italy. We spent about a week at his house playing with the kids and enjoying time with the family. Tony took everyone fishing a few times and Courtney caught a fish!!
Mike and I would like to thank Uncle Nony, Uncle Bill and Annie Burn for helping Courtney with this little endeavor, as it was not an experience she was likely to have with either one of us. Thank goodness for the uncles! :)

Blowing Bubbles
Courtney has been working on blowing bubbles for what seems to be forever. And there is a lot of frustration when she can't do it. So imagine the party at our house when she finally got the hang of it!!
And now, if anyone wants to send money for the bubble gum fund, we will not turn you down. This girl can chew! Lol!!
Happy bubble blowing :)

Trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium
We went to the Aquarium. It was lots of fun. Here is a picture of me with a Puffin bird. Mama said that these birds were favorites of my GG and Papa, so we had to take a picture. They were pretty cute, but we couldn't get very close to them.
I really wanted to see the shark tunnel and we got to see that too. And then the Sea Lions got fed and we got to watch. They did tricks to get their food. It was fun to watch them do their show.
Here I am in the starfish picture too.
We saw all kinds of stuff at the Aquarium. And we had lots of fun.
I played on all the animals and Mama took my picture with Dada and the turtle.

Ouch!
Here is Courtney and Bunny Two Eyes waiting in the Emergency Room at approximately 10:45 pm. Ugh!We should start by saying that Courtney is fine. And we should also mention that Kate feels really really really horrible for the little trauma that was experienced.
So here goes...a while ago a framed poster that was hanging on Courtney's wall literally fell apart in the middle of the night. It was really old, Kate got it as a gift from a friend in the 8th grade, so we are talking YEARS ago! The glass piece was intact, but the frame was obviously not strong enough to hold it any longer. So Kate tucked the piece of glass behind a giant frame that was waiting to be hung in the hall way. She assumed it was protected and all would be well until we could dispose of the sheet of glass.
At any rate, you can probably guess that the glass was not as protected as we thought, and poor Courtney got to figure that out the hard way.

Here is Courtney and Bunny Two Eyes at approximately 12:45. Double Ugh!
So Courtney was playing on the couch and doing her little spider-girl routine of climbing up the walls in the hallway. She has been doing this for years, so we thought nothing of it. Then there was a thud. And silence. Not good. Silence means trouble. Finally there was crying. Big sobbing crying. And Mike picked her up and then we saw the blood. So here we are, three people wide trying to get down the hall. Mike packing Courtney, Courtney screaming, and me trying to keep my hands under Court's foot to catch the blood as we stumble down the hallway to the bathroom. To make a long story short, our bathroom looked like a crime scene, but thankfully my ever stocked first aid kit came in handy and we wrapped the foot up and were off to the hospital.
The fear of the unknown was Courtney's biggest issue as we waited in the lobby of the ER. She was not sure what would happen, so we patiently explained as best we could without freaking her out. We waited for an eternity and finally made it back to a room. The nurse was great, the doctor was great, and Courtney was freaked out. They had to numb her, and that was very painful and then they had to clean the wound and she said, between sobs, that it felt really strange. The first stitch went okay, the second one did not. So they had to pause and numb some more and then finish up the last two stitches. All in all Courtney was a trooper, but decided she did not want to go back to the emergency room anymore. We are all in favor of that.
Here is her little foot at 1:30 before they gooped and bandaged it up so they could send us home.

Her stitches which will have to come out in 7-10 days. Which will require a visit to the doctor, but hopefully because it's just the regular doctor, it won't be as freaky.
Thank you to all of you that sent messages on Facebook and called to see how she was.

Fathers Day Do Over
We didn't do a very a good job of celebrating Father's Day this year because we were on vacation with our family. So Mama helped me plan a Father's Day Do-Over!

I painted a San Francisco Giants mug for Dada cuz he likes the Giants a lot and they are from San Francisco. We also found really cool plates that say San Francisco and they kinda looks like the bridge there. Mama got him a Starbucks gift card and I picked out which card they put the money on. And then we got him the best present of all.....baseball tickets!!! I think Dada's favorite things are baseball and coffee, so we did a really good job of getting all his favorites.
We went to the Em's game tonight and had really good seats to watch all the players practice their swinging before it's their turn to bat.

We were in row 4 and I was in seat 11. That's my favorite number!! There was also a guy wearing a baseball shirt that was number 11, but he didn't play.
(He was the third base coach and we had a heck of a time explaining why he wasn't batting. She figured he should since he was wearing her favorite number and all. Another thing to note...11 is her favorite number because when she was 4 she thought it sounded like lemon, and that was a great reason to pick a favorite numner.)
And after a long time of the game we got to sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame. Mama took a video of us, but Dada and I thought she was taking a picture, so we are just smiling for most of it. Funny huh?

Splash!
One of our favorite things to do is go to Splash! Courtney loves the water and is turning into a great little swimmer.
This summer we have made her swimming trips something of a reward for keeping up on her summer reading. For every 10 books she reads (or we read together) she gets a trip to a pool. We hope to try out several of the local pools over the summer vacation. (We had to make it 10 books otherwise we would be headed to the pool 9 times a week!)
Last night Mike was at a training thing for work so Court and I headed to the pool. She likes crashing into the waves in the wave pool and going down the slide. Last night she made up a new game where we pretend to be mermaids in the mermaid lagoon (the shallow part where we can swim around on our hands so our feet stay together like mermaids). We laughed like crazy and had a great time. Here are a couple of videos of her coming down the slide doing crazy poses and having a great time.
Happy Swimming!
This one is her "surfs up dude" impression...

And this one is just a crazy arm flailing extravaganza with a "big finish"...
Apparently I don't know how to make them appear upright. I hope you don't get a kink in your neck watching them sideways!

Legos!!
One of my favorite things to do is Legos! Usually my dad helps me, but recently my mom has started helping too. Mom wants me to tell everyone that the Toys R Us "Buy One Get One Half Off Sale" is a very dangerous situation for the Tiernan family. We tend to go a little bit crazy with this sale.
Our most recent trip was last weekend where we FINALLY got the Public Transport set. This is a big set, there are 864 pieces making up a tram, bus, sports car, street sweeper, two bus/tram stations and a little coffee shop. It's really cool!
We put it together in two days and then spend two more days playing with it.
(Kate here - she is so creative with her little scenarios that she puts together. Last night she had the train rescuing people before the wall of avalanche destroyed the entire village. It was quite intense in the living room for awhile)
Hope you like the pictures. Next we are going to start on the Train Station that we also bought. That one has tracks and everything. And don't get my mom and dad started on the Passenger Train!! It was a good thing I was with them at Toys R Us last weekend to talk them down! We'll post more pictures soon!
Hope you are having a great summer vacation :)

River Walk

One of the best things in the world is a river walk with my dad. Today was a daddy-daughter date to the river!!
Here are some pictures Dad took of me and the river.

We walk along the river and check out all the cool wading pools and fun things to watch.
Here I am 'surfing' on the rocks!
Then we came home and Mama made us ice-cream floats. Mama and I had rootbeer and Dada had Orange. Yummm!!!

Recycle Project
Today we made a recycle project. We had a huge box of Otter pops for the summer, but there were too many to put in the freezer at once. Mama likes it when they freeze standing up, so when you cut the top off you don't get a sticky mess. So we cut up an old Popsicle box and taped it back together to make a standing box. Now they are all standing up while they freeze.Check out the picture of Peep modeling the box, and the picture of the box nestled in the freezer.

For those of you who don't know, Courtney is an avid recycler. She even started a Capri-Sun recycling project at her school last winter. If we get a chance we will see if Mike can link the article here so you can read about her recycling efforts.

Fun Fish Facts
We had to go to the pet store for some supplies for the dogs. Then I saw the wall of fish tanks...so I tell my mom, "Oh can I have this fish and this fish?"
"Okay!" Mom says. So we bought two new fish and some cool plants to go in the tank. One of them was green and looked like a plant of grass. The other was pink and looked like a flower plant.
I will name them Ocean and Desert! Because one is blue like the ocean and the other is red like the desert.
(If you look closely you can see them in front of the pink flower plant)

We called Dad and we said "We got new fish!" We took them home and got their tank all ready for the fish to move in.
Now they are settled in their tank on my dresser. There is a cool light in the tank so I can see them when I go to sleep.
Sweet Dreams Fishys!
The fun fish facts we learned today---two betas in one tank is okay, as long as they are girls. Apparently girl fish get along much better than boy fish. Who knew?!

It's going to be a Not Bummer Summer

It is our goal to have a "Not Bummer Summer" in the theme of Judy Moody's Not Bummer Summer Movie and Book. We are going to read the book and see the movie for even more great ideas, but in the meantime we are going to blog about all the great things we do this summer. If you have ideas for us please comment and we will share all the fun that is to be had.
